Hello, my name is Joan Comellas. I’m from Barcelona.

I’m a conceptual Graphic Designer and Art Director in love with photography, typography, layout and illustration. I believe design as a source of learning, exploration, understanding and joy. And a bridge between art and communication. In my opinion good design is relevant, iconic, timeless and unexpected.

I’ve been working as a Graphic Designer and Art Director in advertising for the last thirteen years. Working at Wieden+Kennedy Portland for the last five years as a Design Lead and Art Director, and before, I’ve had the pleasure to work for other companies like AKQA London and several agencies in Barcelona. S.C.P.F. , Shackleton and Doubleyou.

For the last seven years I’ve been working mainly for NIKE, but between and before that, I’ve had the pleasure to work and pitch for brands such, Uber, Fender, Instagram, Coca-Cola, BMW, IKEA, MTV, Levi’s, Audi, Powerade, Dewars, Sport Oregon, Tampax, San Miguel, Primavera Sound, amongst others.

And I had the pleasure to work close and collaborate with photographers, artists and directors like Christaan Felber, Lucas Garrido, Martin Schoeller,  Brosmind, Christian Weber, Jason Nocito …
